Atelier — Pearl & Oxblood in a Natural float frame. Styled room visualisation; furniture and lighting are illustrative. Check the selected artwork dimensions and genuine finish preview.
A useful wall measurement includes more than its total height and width. The space that matters is the area where an artwork can sit comfortably beside furniture, doors and lights, and where you can actually enjoy looking at it.
Make a five-measurement sketch
- Measure the uninterrupted wall width.
- Measure from the top of the furniture to the ceiling or lowest architectural obstruction.
- Record the furniture's outside width.
- Mark switches, sockets, vents, wall lights and door-swing paths.
- Note the usual viewing position and its distance from the wall.
A rough drawing is enough. Label centimetres clearly and photograph it alongside the room. This prevents a common shopping error: remembering the wall width but forgetting the lamp that occupies one end.
Separate the image from the finished object
Product dimensions may describe the canvas, panel or outer frame. Read the listing's measurement convention before comparing options. An added float frame creates a larger outside footprint; do not guess that allowance from a photograph.
For a pair, use outer width one + gap + outer width two. For a stacked arrangement, apply the same calculation vertically. Write down both the total footprint and each individual piece so that the intended order stays clear.
Test at real scale
Cut plain-paper rectangles to the proposed outside dimensions. Place them using a temporary method suitable for the wall finish, following the adhesive maker's instructions. Stand where you normally enter, sit and pass through. A photograph from across the room is helpful, but it cannot replace the close view in a narrow passage.
Keep the final measurements with the order
Save your sketch, selected finish and intended hanging position together. If a frame dimension or depth is missing, ask for it before ordering. That small check protects the overall composition—and leaves the eventual hanging decision based on the object that arrives.
