Canvas or Acrylic Wall Art: How to Choose

Bellagio Blue Hour in a Natural float frame with teal ceramic, pale aqua linen and bronze accents. Room scale: 45.7 × 30.5 cm artwork (18 × 12 in). A styled room visualisation; furnishings not included.

Choose canvas when you enjoy a visible fabric surface and a softer material presence. Consider acrylic when you prefer a smooth, glossy presentation. The better choice depends on the particular artwork, your lighting and the object you want on the wall.

Compare the surfaces directly

Question Canvas Acrylic panel
What will I see? Printed fabric stretched into a dimensional object A print presented with a clear, glossy acrylic face
What should I inspect? Surface texture, wrapped edges and optional frame Reflections, polished edges and mounting profile

Our supplier's acrylic panel specification describes a photographic print mounted to 10 mm acrylic. It is a different construction from an acrylic painting or a paper print placed inside an ordinary glazed frame.

Use the same artwork for the comparison

Comparing two different pictures can confuse a material preference with a colour preference. Look at Bellagio Blue Hour in genuine product previews of both finishes. Notice the outside edge and the way the object sits away from the wall, not only the centre of the image.

Check the intended light

A glossy surface can reflect windows and lamps. View the proposed position from your main seat and from the entrance. Canvas still needs a considered display position; no finish should be chosen on an assumption of unlimited resistance to sunlight, humidity or heat.

Check what is supplied

Confirm the exact size, total depth, mounting system and included components for the selected option. A styled room image explains atmosphere, while a supplier object preview helps explain the finish. Use both for their different purposes.

Explore our canvas, frame and acrylic guide for construction details, then confirm the size and finish on your chosen artwork’s product page.
