preview of Atelier — Pearl & Oxblood in a Natural float frame, 12 × 18 inches. The outer frame adds to the nominal canvas dimensions.
A float frame surrounds a stretched canvas while leaving a visible gap between the canvas edge and the frame. That gap creates the impression that the canvas is held separately within the outer border.
Three parts to recognise
- The canvas face: the main printed image.
- The shadow gap: the space around the canvas.
- The outer frame: the visible border and side profile.
This construction differs from a paper print under a window mount. Do not expect a broad white mat around a float-framed canvas unless a specific product explicitly shows and describes one.
Understand the frame profile
Our float-framed canvas profile has a 12 mm face, 5 mm gap and 53 mm total frame depth. These profile measurements help explain the object; check the final outer dimensions for the exact size you choose.
Assess the profile from two views
A head-on preview shows how the border changes the image's outline. An angled preview shows the depth. Both matter if the work will be seen as you walk into the room, particularly beside a shallow console or in a narrow passage.
Atelier's architectural forms offer a useful comparison: a dark frame can extend the structure, while a natural finish can make a warmer transition to the wall. This is an aesthetic judgement rather than a claim that one colour suits every interior.
Check the ordering language
Confirm that “float-framed canvas” is the selected finish, then check frame colour and size independently. A room scene may show a different representative option. Keep those choices together in your order review.
